Aurora Borealis : The Northern Lights

The Aurora Borealis (plural: auroras or aurorea) are also known as Northern Lights. Aurora Borealis is named so after the name of the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas. These northern lights have had a number of names in history such as earlier, some had also called this phenomenon the “Dance of the Spirits”. Aurora Borealis is the phenomenon of the natural light display in the sky especially in the very high northern latitude regions such as the Arctic regions. In general, An Aurora is caused due to the collision of high energy particles with the atoms in the thermosphere – the  high latitude atmosphere.
